Privacy Policy

      The short version: Your shipping label PDFs never leave your device. SnipShip processes everything locally in Chrome. The only data we receive is your license key and a random device ID, used solely to validate your subscription.
    

1. Who we are

SnipShip is a Chrome browser extension that crops courier label PDFs into 4×6 printer-ready files. This privacy policy explains what data is collected, where it goes, and your rights under UK GDPR.

2. Data processed entirely on your device

The following data never leaves your device and is never sent to SnipShip or any server:

PDF files you open in the workspace
The contents of those PDFs — including recipient names, delivery addresses, barcodes, and tracking numbers
Cropped label images generated during processing

All PDF rendering and cropping is done locally inside the Chrome browser using JavaScript. No file upload occurs.

3. Data stored locally on your device

SnipShip stores the following in Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local). This data stays on your device and is not accessible to SnipShip:

Install ID — a randomly generated identifier created when you first install the extension. It is not linked to your identity.
Trial start date — when your 30-day free trial began.
License key — the key you entered to activate a paid subscription.
License status and expiry date — cached locally to avoid constant server requests.

4. Data sent to SnipShip servers (license validation only)

When you activate or the extension checks your license key, it sends a request to our Netlify-hosted license server containing:

Your license key
Your Install ID (a random string — not personally identifiable)
Your browser's User-Agent string (used to record which devices are using the license)

This request is made to https://snipship.netlify.app only. No PDF content, browsing data, or other personal data is included.

5. Data collected at purchase (via Stripe)

If you subscribe, payment is processed by Stripe. SnipShip receives from Stripe:

Your email address (used to send your license key)
Your subscription plan and status
Stripe customer and subscription identifiers

Stripe collects payment card details directly. SnipShip never sees or stores your card number. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/gb/privacy.

Your email address and subscription data are stored in our Supabase database, hosted in the EU (Ireland). This data is used only to validate and manage your license.

6. License delivery emails (via Resend)

After payment, your license key is emailed to you using Resend, an email delivery service. Your email address is passed to Resend for this purpose only. Resend's privacy policy is at resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.

7. Data retention

License records are retained for the duration of your subscription and for up to 2 years after expiry, for dispute resolution purposes. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.

8. Your rights (UK GDPR)

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Rectify inaccurate data
Erase your data ("right to be forgotten")
Restrict processing of your data
Port your data to another service
Object to processing

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Cookies

The SnipShip website (snipship.netlify.app) does not use tracking cookies or analytics. Stripe's checkout page may set cookies as part of their payment flow.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of SnipShip after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
